
Our client is seeking an Instructional Designer to join their Content Development and Design team who create quality digital learning experiences for their education and corporate clients. It is a multi-skilled role that leads instructional design on a project basis. This is a six month fixed term contract with the potential to go permanent.
The Instructional Designer is involved at all stages of the eLearning production process, from planning through to QA and release to leading and managing projects including liaising with and managing design staff and freelancers, including animators, localisation suppliers, video editors, and voice over artists.
What you will bring to the role
- Excellent instructional design skills and solid experience in multiple areas of learning design (adult learning, schools, higher education)
- Excellent understanding of learning theories and multimedia learning principles
- Excellent visual design skills and the ability to interpret content/concepts to present clearly and visually to learners
- Capable of quickly learning and analysing information on new and unfamiliar subjects
- Good editorial and proofreading skills and excellent writing skills
- Excellent design and layout skills (for eLearning authoring tools (Articulate Storyline), PowerPoint presentations) and experience with both Articulate Storyline and Rise 360
- Ability to learn new software and to assess the quality of media, assets, and deliverables on a project
- Understand copyright issues, the target audience and analyse how to design the content to appeal to that audience
Some of the responsibilities of the Role
- Project manage projects / support projects through project coordination of production tasks
- Liaising with clients, project stakeholders and remote project contributors
- Create learning path plans, identify and write learning objectives
- Create content scripts and storyboards, edit and proof content for digital learning
- Write video and audio transcripts, onscreen text and any support information
- Design learning support materials (job aids, handouts), both visuals and content
- Outline graphics and other media requirements
- Book voice over artists, audio recording and manage the delivery of assets
- Work with and update team members via communication tools (i.e., Discord, Trello)
